Growing up, whenever my family would host an event, we would always serve what I called, “chip dip”. To put it simply, it was just onion dip that my mom would throw together with sour cream and onion soup mix. My parents knew that this was my all time favorite appetizer that my family would serve at our gatherings. I figured that with the Super Bowl right around the corner, this would be a great time to share a fancy onion dip.
Now that I am older and I have more experience in the kitchen, I want to take one of my favorite dips that are associated with some of my favorite childhood memories and bring it to a more elevated level. This dip features five different onions. Each of them have different tastes, creating a more complex flavor profile.
Sure it will take more work, but it could be fun to try something new! This dip can be served with potato chips or wedges, roasted broccolini, or toasted bread. Don’t worry, I won’t be offended if you don’t want to put in the work to make the fancier dip. The sour cream and soup mix is still my favorite dip!
