Connecting to and Supporting Israel

OUR STEADFAST SUPPORT

The Buffalo Jewish Federation maintains steadfast support for Israel and all Jewish communities across the globe.  We work tirelessly to deepen connections between the Jewish State and the global Jewish community through our overseas partners – The Joint Distribution Committee, The Jewish Agency for Israel, and World ORT.

Despite Israel’s economic success, one in five Israeli families lives in poverty.  We provide a safety net for the most vulnerable, and we advocate for those in distress.  And, when Israel is threatened, we are part of a strong network through Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) that mobilizes to come immediately to her aid.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR ENGAGEMENT

Our system has helped hundreds of thousands of young Jews forge a personal connection to Israel through immersive experiences like Taglit-Birthright Israel and other youth experiences.  We have also enabled hundreds of Jewish Buffalonians to travel to Israel through the Buffalo Israel Experience (2018) Momentum (2019) and our Clergy Trip (2017).

We invite you to join us on a future Israel Experience:

BUILDING BRIDGES THROUGH P2G

Israel Experience - P2G 2021 Western Galilee Central Area Consortium BudapestThe way in which we connect most deeply with Israel is through our Partnership2Gether (P2G) program in the Western Galilee.

Over the past 20 years, P2G has become Federations most successful and effective model for creating meaningful relationships between global Jewish communities and communities in Israel.  Buffalo is part of a Mid-West consortium of 16 communities as well as Budapest, Hungary that connects us to those living in the Western Galilee region of Israel.

Our Partnership council, led by Dr. Laurie Sadler, ensures that our connections are strong and growing, from connecting through cultural and educational programs, to hosting Israelis rom the region when they visit our community, and connecting Jewish Buffalonians to the region when they visit Israel.  Buffalo is proud to host a leadership meeting of the Partnership in the Spring of 2023.

ISRAEL PROGRAMMING

Federation provides grants to organizations in the community to celebrate Israel and we work in close partnership with the Jewish Community Center to provide ongoing programming to strengthen our knowledge of and connection to the Jewish land and it’s people.
