FAQs


What flights will the group take?

Traveling to Israel: the group will fly on EL AL departing from Toronto on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at 2:00pm, landing in Tel Aviv on Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 8:15am. Bus transportation will be provided from Buffalo to the Toronto airport.

Returning to North America: the group will fly on EL AL departing Tel Aviv on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 1:00am, landing at Newark airport on Friday, November 2, 2018 at 7:15am. Bus transportation will be provided from the Newark airport back to Buffalo.

Can I book my own flights?

Yes! The land only cost for the Buffalo Israel Experience will be $2,500/person (double occupancy). If you plan to arrange your own air travel, you will be responsible for meeting the group in Israel (late morning in Jerusalem on Thursday, October 25) and all additional costs. If you would like to travel to Israel with the group but extend your stay please contact our travel agent, Anjie Huffman @ Ayelet Tours (anjie@ayelet.com 1-800-237-1517 x340). You will be responsible for all additional costs.

What if I don’t want to take the bus from Newark to Buffalo?

The full cost of the Buffalo Israel Experience includes bus transportation from Newark Airport back to the JCC in Getzville. If you would like to make different travel arrangements from the Newark Airport back to Buffalo, you may do so independently and will be responsible for all additional costs.

What are the hotel accommodations?

We will be staying in Dan Panorama hotels throughout the Buffalo Israel Experience.

Should I get a new passport?

To enter Israel, a passport valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of entry is required.

Should I purchase travel insurance & supplemental medical coverage?

Yes! We urge you to purchase cancellation insurance & supplemental medical coverage (which covers preexisting conditions). This is a smart way to safeguard against life’s surprises.

What is the payment and refund schedule?
PAYMENT SCHEDULE

Deposit of $1,000 due at time of registration
50% of Payment June 1, 2018
Full Payment August 20, 2018
$1,000 deposit and completed registration due by April 15, 2018 to guarantee your spot on the trip and group transportation.

REFUND SCHEDULE

Cancel Before July 1, 2018 – Full Refund
Cancel between July 1 and August 20, 2018 – 50% of amount paid
Cancel between August 20-October 1, 2018 – 25% of amount paid
Cancel after October 1, 2018 – No Refund

What is not included in the cost of the trip?

There are many opportunities to dine on your own throughout the Buffalo Israel Experience. You will be responsible for the cost of these meals. You will be responsible for any passport charges, any additional costs incurred from travel extensions, and for all tips and gratuities. Please note that it is customary to provide tips for the tour guides and bus drivers; the total cost is approximately $10.00 per day per person.

When is payment due?

Payment in full for all participants is required by August 20, 2018. 50% payment of cost due by June 1, 2018.

Can I pay on a payment plan?

The Buffalo Jewish Federation does not offer payment plans. For a payment plan, please contact Peter Fleischmann (peter@jewishphilanthropies.org) at the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies, who can assist you with a loan through the Hebrew Benevolent Loan Association (HBLA).

Who will I share a room with?

If there a specific person you would like to share a room with (life partner or friend) please note their name in the roommate section of the registration form. We will make every effort to honor roommate requests. If you are traveling solo you will be contacted regarding a roommate for the trip. Private rooms (single supplement) can be booked for an additional $915.

Can I bring my children on the Buffalo Israel Experience?

This trip is designed for adults 22 and older.

Who will be our tour guides?

We will be led by some of the best guides in Israel, including Ezra Korman and Yossef Idan.

Will there be a meeting in Buffalo before we travel to Israel?

Yes, there will be at least one (possibly two) gatherings in Buffalo before we depart on October 24, 2018.

Will there be free time to visit my family or shop?

Yes! There will be a variety of different times throughout The Buffalo Israel Experience when you can explore Israel on your own. These will be great times to meet a family member for dinner or shop! Alternatively, our travel agent can help you extend your stay in Israel.

Will I have time to exercise?

There will be free time in the evening and time before breakfast to walk, run or take advantage of the hotel fitness facilities.
