This week, we’re delighted to cast a spotlight on Williamsville East junior, Ozzy Enis. Ozzy is an active member in Jewish Buffalo and reads Torah weekly at Kehillat Ohr Tzion.
Ozzy just returned home after spending a week at the Summer Leaders Experience at West Point, the United States Military Academy. This program brings together 500 high school juniors and divides them into platoons and squads, with each squad being led by a current West Point cadet. Ozzy plans to attend West Point after he graduates next year and felt compelled to attend this program “to get a firsthand account of what West Point will be like.”
Ozzy shared that he “learned how difficult West Point is, as the academic, physical, and military aspects of West Point push you to your limits.” He also knows the Summer Leaders Experience has helped to reinforce his future goals while also grounding him in reality. “I came to the realization that West Point offers the greatest opportunity if you can survive the toughest challenge,” he says. “The extensiveness of their academic programs ranks on the level of Harvard and Yale, but with the added leadership and military aspects, West Point prepares you better for the world.”
