This week we are happy to shine a spotlight on Edwin Black, an award-winning, New York Times bestselling investigative author whose work has illuminated some of the most powerful and overlooked stories in modern history.
The son of Holocaust survivors from Poland, Edwin has written more than 25 books, published in 20 languages across 190 countries, and hosts The Edwin Black Show, a weekly podcast exploring historical and current affairs. He is internationally recognized for uncovering hidden chapters of history and connecting them to today’s global challenges.
Among his most impactful contributions is his research on the Farhud, a violent pogrom against Jews in Baghdad on June 1–2, 1941, which marked a devastating turning point for Iraq’s 2,700-year-old Jewish community. Through his books and lectures, Edwin brings this “Forgotten Pogrom” to light, revealing the historical Arab-Nazi alliance and its lasting influence. To ensure this history is never lost, he established International Farhud Day, now commemorated worldwide.
Edwin has shared his message around the globe, from the U.S. Congress to the Israeli Knesset, continuing to inspire reflection, understanding, and resilience.
Edwin Black will be in Buffalo on October 19 to give a presentation on the Farhud, which is a program of the Buffalo Coalition Against Antisemitism (BCAA). Click here for more information or to register for the event.
