Last weekend, BBYO, an international Jewish youth group, hosted its inaugural local event – pickleball! Coming off the excitement of BBYO’s roots taking hold here in Buffalo, today we cast the spotlight on Romi Avidor, BBYO’s Upstate New York Growth Specialist. She is also the Chapter Specialist of Western New York, which is part of the organization’s greater Liberty Region of the U.S.
Romi is originally from Israel, where she grew up in a typical Israeli Jewish home that instilled in her a deep love for Judaism, community, and tradition. Being Jewish is a central part of who she is—it shapes the way she connects with others and moves through the world. She recently graduated with her bachelor’s degree from the University of Arizona, and her goal is to become a physician assistant, a path inspired by her passion for healthcare and meaningful human connection. Alongside her professional aspirations, Romi is deeply committed to Jewish communal life. She loves working with Jewish youth and helping build vibrant, welcoming communities through BBYO, creating spaces where teens feel proud of their identity and excited to belong. She is grateful to combine her love for Judaism, leadership, and service in everything she does.
