The weather this week has been so beautiful and it is really making me ready for the warm weather. One of my favorite things to do in the spring and summer is cook on the barbeque with my dad. I have so many fond memories of standing by the grill with my dad while listening to music and joking around. Sometimes, my dad thinks he is a master chef and will try to make something really fancy on the grill, but he usually will take the classic route and make hamburgers.
As someone who is gluten free, I am always looking for ways to replace the bread that is traditionally incorporated into certain foods. If I do not look to replace it, it can feel like I do not have much of a complete meal. When trying to solve this problem when it comes to hamburgers, I found this intriguing recipe to make a portabella mushroom bun.
Now, I feel as if this is significantly better that eating a traditional burger ever was. The mushroom adds more complexity to a meal that is so simple and basic. It truly elevates the burger and brings it to the next level. Even if you are not gluten free, this is a wonderful healthy alternative to try out this grilling season! Once you hop on this train, I bet you wont go back!
