Summary of Presentation

Judge Lisa’s mother Steffi was a refugee who escaped Nazi Germany with her parents when she was five years old prior to the start of World War II. Lisa’s family story parrallels the German Jewish experience during the Holocaust: some were murdered, some sent to concentration camps, some fled to South America, and some were on the Kindertranspsort to England. This poignant presentation shares what life was like before WWII for Steffi and her family, how antisemitism forced the family to make the difficult decision to leave their homeland, a glimpse at the immigration process and the family’s adjustment to life in America, and finally the incredible legacy that Steffi created that will live on through the generations.
