Summary of Presentation
Karl Blum was born in Vienna, Austria in 1907. His family lived in the Jewish area of Vienna and his mother was a patron of the arts. His family raised cattle and owned wholesale and retail meat stores. In March of 1938, known as the Anschluss, Germany annexed Austria and Austria became part of the Reich. At this time, Jewish citizens were no longer able to own businesses, and as a result the family lost their livelihood. In this presentation, you will hear about Karl’s family and how each of their decisions and choices changed their lives forever.
