This week we are delighted to cast a spotlight on Pam and Brian Snyder. The Snyders participated on the Buffalo Israel Experience (BIE) trip last October and are the leaders of Jewish Buffalo’s Exploring our Roots Trip next year.
Brian is a physician specializing in Geriatrics and Palliative Care and is managing partner of South Gate Medical Group where he founded and leads the Clinical Research Department. Pam is the Coordinator of Quality improvement for South Gate. When Brian is not working, he enjoys bread and beer making and photography. Pam loves to garden, refinish furniture, reading and designing homemade crafts. They are both active in the Jewish community; Brian a board member for the Foundation of Jewish Philanthropies and Pam serves on the board of Temple Beth Tzedek. The Snyders have three grown children, Arielle (Brian) Schuler, Mollie (Simon) Gallington and Ben Snyder. They are expecting their first grandchild this summer.
Brian’s quest to discover his family history began years ago and is the inspiration for the Federation’s next immersive experience (Exploring our Roots) which will take place April 2-11 2024. The itinerary will focus on education, remembrance, and hope for the future as we travel to Warsaw, Wolomin, Krakow, Brno (Czech Republic) and Vienna.
Brian’s mother always wanted to know more about her ancestors, but her parents and siblings were unwilling to discuss their family history. Brian’s mother had photographs with Yiddish writing on the back and these family heirlooms were the beginning of Brian’s search to discover his family story.
The Snyders hope that on this incredible trip travelers will explore their common heritage, learn about genealogy, remember the Holocaust and interact with the local communities in Poland and Austria.
