Paige Hurwitz
June 30, 2023

This week we are pleased to cast a spotlight on the Holocaust Resource Center’s 2023 Student Upstander Award winner, Paige Hurwitz.

Paige just completed her senior year at Clarence High School. She is on high honor roll and is a member of National Honor Society and Academy of Visual and Performing Arts. In her free time she enjoys dancing, reading and spending time with her friends and family. Next year she will be attending Cornell University to study Industrial and Labor Relations.

Paige was chosen to receive this year’s Student Upstander Award because she displayed the courage to fearlessly use her voice to express her concern over the choice of her high school’s musical. Paige contacted the Buffalo Jewish Federation and used guidance and resources to communicate to her school and district’s administration her worry and fear about the outcome of the musical. Paige demonstrated bravery, leadership and maturity, and as a result is a recipient of this prestigious award for creating positive change in our community.
