Yom Kippur

September 19

Yom Kippur is the holiest day of the Jewish year and means “Day of Atonement.”  It begins several minutes before sunset on September 18 and concludes after nightfall on September 19.  Many who observe the holiday will attend synagogue and will abstain from eating and drinking, as well as other normal activities.
