Shared Legacies film screening

The highly acclaimed documentary, Shared Legacies, will be screened by Congregation Beth Abraham, Sunday June 19 at 4:00. The film explores the common cause found between Jews and African Americans during the turbulent 60’s and how that partnership helped shape the Civil Rights Movement. Preceding the film, there will be a brief presentation on the political and social climate of the “Freedom Summer” of 1964. The program is being held in memory of the three Civil Rights volunteers, Michael Schwerner, James Chaney and Andrew Goodman, murdered by the KKK in June of that year. Schwerner and Goodman were Jewish, Chaney was black. The program will be held at Congregation Beth Abraham, 1073 Elmwood Avenue.
