Kristallnacht Commemoration

November 9 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

On November 9, 1938, a mass torching of synagogues, vandalism and pillaging of businesses, murders and arrests were widespread in Germany, Austria, and Czechoslovakia. This atrocity is known as Kristallnacht (Night of the Broken Glass).

On its 83rd anniversary, we will commemorate it by overpowering the hatred shown, and instead share the light, strength, and valor of those Upstanders who were courageous enough to help. The Ritchie Boys are those collective Upstanders – and include Buffalonians Stephan Lewy, Kurt Klein (z”l) and Kurt Jacobs (z”l).

Those who were part of the Camp Ritchie program learned photo interpretation, terrain analysis, Prisoner of War interrogation, order of battle, psychological warfare, counterintelligence, signal intelligence, mapmaking, and close combat – and were crucial assets for the Allied powers.

Join us online Tuesday, November 9 at 5:30pm as Beverley Driver Eddy, Ph.D. and Chana R. Kotzin, Ph.D. teach us more about these brave heroes.
