High Risk: Stories of Pregnancy, Birth and the Unexpected
May 27 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Chavi Eve Karkowsky, MD is a high-risk obstetrician in New York City, as well as a writer with work appearing in the Washington Post, Slate Magazine, and the Atlantic as well as other outlets. Her first book, “High Risk: Stories of Pregnancy, Birth and the Unexpected” is out now (Liveright/Norton, 2020) and available wherever books are sold. She also lived and worked as a doctor in Israel for several years.
Chavi writes about women’s health and pregnancy, but also about our modern medical system; its ethical and policy context; and about the ways it can feel to be a patient these days.
Come chat with us about Chavi’s new book, women’s healthcare and the way it affects a whole family; how religion and liturgy coincide in the hospital (in the US and in Israel!), the state of medical systems in the era of COVID19, along with other topics.”
