Ethan Shugar
March 4, 2022

This month we are spotlighting several awardees of Buffalo Jewish Federation’s First-Time Camper Incentive grants, Taste of Centerland and One Happy Camper. Today, we are delighted to feature Ethan Shugar who attended Camp Seneca Lake (CSL) for the first time last summer.

Ethan is currently a 6th grader in Amherst.  “I loved the activities,” he said about his first summer camp experience, “there was so much to learn and do. I loved that we played so many sports with our cabin mates. The counselors were amazing, and the food was great too!” Ethan’s parents, Natalie & Aaron, were thrilled that Ethan loved camp so much that he asked to extend his time there last summer. “Ethan met so many new friends at Camp.  He grew as a person and camp helped him develop his Jewish roots. We are so happy that he was able to experience camp life in a safe, friendly, active, and encouraging environment.” Ethan is eagerly awaiting the opportunity to return to CSL again this summer!

Camp Seneca Lake, affiliated with the Rochester JCC, has provided generations of children entering grades 4-12 with nearly 100 summers of fun, friends and cherished memories. Their 200 beautiful wooded acres in the Finger Lakes region of New York State provide the ideal backdrop for camping. Campers participate in a variety of activity areas and programs including waterfront (skiing, sailing, paddle sports and more), high and low ropes courses, land sports, hiking, nature, performing arts, and arts and crafts.
