Jewish Living + Learning Experiences for adults
MUSSAR FOR MOMS
Specifically designed for working moms of young children, you will increase awareness of self through a Jewish lens, build confidence to be the best parent that you can be, and engage in conversation to help build positive relationships personally and professionally.

Middah of the season
Each season we will explore 2-3 middot through text study, stories and experiences, as well as provide practices you can take home. *For anyone who has taken an Introduction to Mussar course or participated in a Mussar group (locally or elsewhere).

Taste of Mussar
An introduction to the study and practice of Mussar. We will look at how to recognize your personal ‘soul’ curriculum and how to use that as the basis for personal growth through exploring traits of the soul. Three sessions offered – afternoon and evening.

Living a Jewish Year
A year-long program to guide Introduction to Judaism graduates from the past five years through a substantive experience emphasizing how a celebration of Jewish time can help integrate Judaism into the natural rhythms of life. Experience living the Jewish Calendar!

SEASON OF MUSSAR I
Season of Mussar I guides you in an exploration of your soul traits as you find and strengthen your balance for leading a fulfilling life in worldly and spiritual matters. You will become equipped with tools of Jewish spiritual practice that are centuries old to purify and elevate your soul.

SEASON OF MUSSAR II
Season of Mussar II is the continuation of A Season of Mussar I. At this higher level, more advanced Mussar practices are added to the program, including Chesbon Ha’Nefesh, which involves both the daily recitation of a phrase and keeping a journal.

ROSH CHODESH CIRCLE
In Hebrew, the 1st day of the month is called Rosh Chodesh. Rosh Chodesh Circle will encourage women to cultivate and develop a more complete sense of self through leadership, Jewish learning, wisdom, and ritual while building community. Two cohorts will be offered for women of all ages.

Introduction to Judaism
In collaboration with the Buffalo Board of Rabbis & Cantors, this course is for couples considering intermarriage, individuals interested in conversion or learning more about Judaism, and Jews wishing to learn more about their religion and history.

For beginners interested in learning the Hebrew alphabet, grammar and vocabulary. You will start reading prayers for Shabbat, synagogue services and traditional blessings.

Director, Adult Engagement
Susan’s Buffalo roots run deep. She has strong connections to individuals and families across multiple generations in Jewish Buffalo, and also a strong and personal connection to Israel. Susan is a master Jewish educator who finds great joy in learning about people’s personal Jewish stories, and facilitating connections with others who share similar interests. When not in the office, you can find Susan with her grandchildren, with her guitar leading Shabbat services, or on a kayak exploring the inner harbor.
