David Feuerstein
December 3, 2021

Next Monday, December 6, during the joint Annual Meeting of the Foundation and the Buffalo Jewish Federation, David Feuerstein will be honored with the Foundation for Jewish Philanthropies’ 2021 Leadership Endowment Award.

The Endowment Leadership Award is the highest honor the Foundation bestows. It is awarded in recognition of extraordinary service, generosity, and commitment to the Buffalo Jewish community.

Born and raised in Buffalo, now David and Jodi Bloom split their time residing in Williamsville and Sarasota.

Commercial real estate and development has been a lifelong goal and career of David’s, following in the footsteps of his beloved father, Irving Feuerstein. In addition to his father influencing his professional career, David’s parents (Shirley and Irving), grandparents and brothers instilled a passion for community service and philanthropy.

The Foundation has long been special and important to David, where he continues to provide his guidance as an Honorary Trustee.

David’s first philanthropic initiative occurred in 2004 in support of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD for research related to the treatment of brain tumors. David established this fund in honor of his brother, Dr. Michael Feuerstein, a cancer survivor who successfully underwent brain surgery at the hospital.

In creating the Feuerstein Family Foundation, David’s greatest inspiration has been to instill the family’s legacy of support for the Jewish Buffalo and general communities.  David is honored and grateful to have established his family foundation which has enabled him to engage his children, Rachel, Aaron and Aaron’s wife Jessica, to continue the family’s philanthropic mission.

David credits his parents and extended family for his understanding and commitment to Tzedakah (righteousness).

His parents espoused “It doesn’t matter what you have in life; what matters is what you do with what you have in life to make a lasting impact on others’ lives.”
