Happy August! Since my birthday is coming up next week, I wanted to celebrate by sharing a recipe of one of my favorite desserts: Crème brûlée! I first tried crème brûlée while on vacation with my grandparents. Now, whenever I see crème brûlée on a dessert menu, I always make sure to order it.
When baking crème brûlée, the only special tool you need is a blowtorch to caramelize the sugar on top of the custard. If you don’t have a blowtorch laying around, don’t worry – you can use a broiler or the broiler setting in your oven or toaster oven instead. From personal experience, using a blowtorch is much more exciting than using a broiler! Whether you use a blowtorch or a broiler, be careful not to burn the sugar. Otherwise, the sweet, caramelized shell of your crème brûlée won’t be so sweet anymore.
Good luck making your crème brûlée! I hope you love it as much as I do!
